We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant to join our finance team. If this candidate is located in Boston or Columbus they are welcome to work from our offices as they wish, otherwise it is a fully remote position. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing financial statements, handling portions of the accounts payble process, and managing payroll. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, be an independent self-starter, and have the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting processes by providing relevant financial data and analysis.
- Assist with the year-end audit process, including preparing schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Monitor and analyze financial data to identify trends and variances.
- Own expense management system (Ramp) – review credit card transactions for proper general ledger coding and to ensure receipts and descriptions are included.
- Review accounts payable for coding accuracy in Bill.com and be the backup for issuing payments.
- Weekly invoicing and payment posting for subsidiary company.
- Assist with accounting for subsidiary companies.
- Prepare bi-weekly payroll.
- Record payroll journal entries, remit 401k and HSA contributions.
- Complete ad hoc requests as needed for the finance department.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting.
- Logistics industry experience a plus.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel.
- Comfortable with/learning current and emerging online accounting and finance tools.
- Experience with Quickbooks Online, BILL, BambooHR a plus.
- Ability to work independently.
