Accounting Manager
Location – This role is eligible to be performed remotely, however, if you reside within 100 miles of Organic Valley offices in WI, you will be expected to collaborate onsite in a hybrid fashion for 4-8 days per month. If you reside outside of 100 miles, you will travel in 4 times/year for intentional collaboration and connection.

Summary of Role
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for leading a team in planning, collecting, and analyzing data used for accurate and timely financial reporting and explaining financial results. This role will have responsibility for the cooperative’s accounting practices, reconciliation of general ledger and preparation and interpretation of its financial reports for leadership and external groups. This role will also perform management review of tax related activity at the cooperative.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
o Manages General Ledger Accounting team and maintain reliability and strengthen process related to the trial balance.
o Manages the effectiveness of and implements internal controls to improve the completeness and accuracy of financial reporting.
o Manages internal and external audits including review and coordination of documentation requests.
o Performs month-end close activities related to complex accounting topics.
o Educates others on the use and affects of complex accounting treatments.
o Reviews and approves various accrual entries at month end.
o Reviews, evaluates, and reports on completeness and accuracy of general ledger account reconciliations, including balance sheet trend analysis.
o Prepares consolidated financial statements and reviews elimination entries.
o Review, update, and implement new, cost-effective accounting process improvements to help move the department and cooperative forward.
o Analyzes and improves consistency in the use of general ledger accounts and explains variances.
o Ensures validity and accuracy of ERP through analysis and internal audit.
o Using query tools, mines data in the ERP and other integrated applications.
o Researches new Accounting Standard Updates (ASU’s) and leads a team to implement new guidance.
o Communicates impact of new ASUs to other areas of the business.
o Provides support for tax reporting including, but not limited to, sales and use tax, and estimated income tax payments.
o Communicate expectations by evaluating performance, providing timely feedback, training, and coaching, and recommending personnel actions for assigned staff.
o Ensure compliance with policies, safety procedures, and fair employment practices.
o Handles confidential information with discretion.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
o Participates in special projects and cross functional teams.
o Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
o Bachelor’s degree in accounting and four or more years of experience including month end close processes.
o CPA credentials and public accounting experience are preferred.
o Must have demonstrated software proficiencies in Microsoft Office Suite. SAP experience is a plus.
o Able to lead, teach and coach a team of accounting professionals, while managing a diverse workload, multiple tasks, and deadlines, including project management.
o Demonstrated accounting knowledge and skills including knowledge of GAAP and IRS regulations.
o Must be well organized, detailed oriented, and accurate.
o Demonstrated ability to create consolidated management level reporting.
o Demonstrated ability to analyze data to identify anomalies and develop solutions to solve problems.
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to actively listen, problem solve, and collaborate effectively with other departments. Capable of managing, adapting to, and promoting change.
o Self-starter with initiative and desire to promote process improvements and efficiency throughout the organization.
o Limited travel to other cooperative sites or training may be required.
Base salary wage range: $80,010 – $109,480 per year
This salary wage range is exclusive of fringe benefits. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary bonuses. If you are hired at CROPP, your final base salary wage compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, and/or experience. Additionally, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that entry-level candidates to this role should expect to be at the lower end of the salary wage range and hiring at the maximum of the salary wage range is not typical.
