Position Purpose:

This position will support the business in reaching success and profitability goals by working with the Controller and CFO to create and maintain accounting processes and activities. The Assistant Controller will prepare monthly forecasting and provide the necessary analysis.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/or Finance is required.
  • 5-7 years of related experience is required.
  • Big 4 or public accounting experience preferred.
  • CPA is preferred.
  • Accounting ERP system experience is required. NetSuite experience is preferred.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office programs including Word and PowerPoint. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Advanced and foundational understanding of GAAP.
  • Understanding of data analytics.
  • Knowledge of state and use taxes.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

  • Perform month end close duties, including recording transactions, completing account reconciliations, and other analysis with support from senior and staff accountants.
  • Supervise and review the work of staff and senior accountants.
  • Prepare Monthly Financial Reporting package and lender reporting.
  • Prepare weekly cash flow reporting and 26 week forecast.
  • Assist FP&A and Controller with budgeting, forecasting and metrics and KPI capture and reporting.
  • Prepare monthly and annual GAAP Financial Reports.
  • Analyze and record complex transactions in accordance with GAAP. Perform technical accounting research and document conclusions, as required.
  • Manage order to cash cycle, including contract/order review, client invoicing for completeness and accuracy, and revenue recognition.
  • Oversee collections efforts and provide consistent updates to management on collection issues. Maintain acceptance DSO.
  • Review sales taxability and ensure products are updated timely in Avalara. Identify new states requiring sales and use tax registration and compliance. Review sales and use tax returns prepared by the senior or staff accountant.
  • Review and approve sales commissions and related contract acquisition costs.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to sit for much of the workday with periodic walking and/or standing.
  • Must be able to work in an office environment.
  • The position is onsite twice a month for a week. This position requires some travel.
  • This position is full-time.
