Job Summary:

The Payroll Process Lead is responsible for supporting and managing payroll processes and systems to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll, compliance with federal, state and Social Security regulations, and the Company’s compensation and benefit structure.  This position will manage processes to support delivery of payroll processing and lead ad hoc projects. In addition, this position will research, develop, and implement new procedures and lead continuous improvement projects on existing procedures.

Principal Responsibilities:

Process Management (50%)

  • Coordinates the tasks and processes to successfully complete payroll processing and related payroll tax deliverables. Researches complex payroll and payroll tax issues and documents recommendations. Communicates effectively with key stakeholders to ensure accurate payroll processing.
  • Participates in developing, implementing, documenting, and maintaining payroll policies and processes.
  • Supports review of payroll work products, such as payroll audits, journals, certifications, and other work completed by payroll team members, including the authority to sign off for initial review and approval in satisfaction of control requirements as needed.
  • Supports the ongoing monitoring of third-party payroll providers and/or sourcing partners; including SLA adherence, operational issue resolution and escalation and general oversight of performance and process improvements.
  • Provides technical guidance regarding the reporting requirements related to newly enacted and proposed legislation and/or regulatory changes.
  • Supports internal and external audits and provide information, records and documentation as needed.

Continuous Improvement (50%)

  • Supports continuous improvement and performance measurement models, techniques, systems, and tools that enable the monitoring of the payroll value stream performance health by using performance metrics and data. Optimizes processes to ensure quality, effectiveness, and delivery of customer value.
  • Works cross functionally within CFA and across divisions to target potential improvement areas. Designs and implements more efficient and effective processes and systems.
  • Assists in special projects and supports implementation, training and change management related to Workday HCM and/or Workday Financials changes, including new releases, new functionality, and new modules.

Skills and Background You’ll Need:

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Economics, or related field.

Certification: CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) preferred.

Experience:

  • 6 – 10 years payroll, federal, state, and local payroll taxation, and accounting experience or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
  • Experience working in payroll, payroll tax or related compliance functions.
  • Experience analyzing complex transactions, processes or policies and documenting conclusion in memorandums or ad hoc deliverables. Strong knowledge of federal and state wage and hour laws.
  • Experience with MSOffice (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and large ERP systems required.

Please note – the salary range for this role is listed below. In addition to salary, our package includes incentive plan participation and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits, as well as an initial PTO accrual of 164 hours per year. Employees also receive 11 paid holidays and 2 wellness days per year.

  • Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on various factors, including individual and organizational performance.

Salary Range:

$84,000.00 – $123,250.00
