Franklin University, a private, independent, accredited, not-for-profit University located in Columbus, Ohio invites applicants for its Senior Accounts Receivable Analyst position. The Senior Account Analyst position will be primarily responsible for managing the transactional processing and reconciliation functions of the business office, including billing, student tax reporting, student refunding, audit activities and appropriate forms and procedures. Additionally, the Senior Account Analyst will assist the Assistant Director of the Business Office review and direct the work of the Business Office Analysts and Specialists. The Senior Analyst will also support the interworking of all special projects and strategic initiatives of the University, ensuring their success from a billing and account maintenance vantage.

This role will work a remote schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the accounts receivable subsidiary ledgers, and supporting documentation for financial reporting and to assist in the completion of annual audits.
  • Maintain records and complete reconciliations for various accounts related to student activity
  • Perform detailed account analyses to identify student credit balances and issue refunds in accordance with university procedures and guidelines as well as mandatory federal regulations
  • Administer third party (non-student or student sponsor) billing process providing accurate and timely invoices, follow-up on delinquent accounts and reconciliations to the general ledger
  • Analyze student accounts, taking into consideration all aspects of the student’s financial record (financial aid, tuition credits, loans, monthly payment plan, etc.).
  • Provide training and instruction to Business Office Specialists and maintain process documents to facilitate the onboarding and training of Specialists
  • Establishes and implements short- and long-range organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates programmatic and operational effectiveness, and effects changes required for improvement
  • Research and resolve student account payment discrepancy within the University ERP
  • Maintain existing payment processes and assist in establishing new methods and types of payments to facilitate emerging business and pricing strategies
  • Monthly preparation and/or approval of general ledger account reconciliations, and detailed account analysis with comparison to prior periods and trend analysis.
  • Produce student account reporting such as aging reports, collection status reports, payment plan reports, third party vendor reports for analysis and distribution to key leadership
  • Support student facing offices with billing and account inquires
  • Work with the external auditors to coordinate and provide requested documentation as needed.
  • Provide support to the Assistant Director of the Business Office on various projects and ad-hoc requests

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of Federal financial aid regulations for the disbursement of funds, collection techniques, cash management practices, personnel management techniques, business management and accounting principles and procedures
  • Working knowledge of higher education financial software systems
  • Ability to interpret and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures, and analyze situations accurately to adopt effective courses of action
  • Ability to effectively manage and evaluate the work of staff; assign duties and responsibilities; oversee the work assignments to ensure work is done accurately and timely; and provide personnel development
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and prepare clear, concise reports
  • Ability to lead business meetings in an organized fashion and be a Project Leader
  • Ability to maintain personal composure in high stress situations as well as establish and maintain effective working relationships with others

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 5-7 years relevant accounting and administrative business experience
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently
  • Strong computer systems aptitude and MS Excel Skills

  • Experience with higher education and/or student financial aid
  • Experience with veteran and military benefits
  • Experience with Ellucian’s Colleague ERP system, SQL, Microsoft PowerBI
