Are you passionate about uncovering insights from complex data sets? Are you driven to change the standard of care in women’s health?
As the Senior Manager, Accounts Receivable (A/R), you’ll be responsible for overseeing the company’s A/R processes, which encompass collections, denial management, appeals, underpayment resolution, payment posting, reconciliation, workflow creation and monitoring, as well as A/R reporting and analysis. Additionally, you’ll manage the A/R revenue cycle team and its agents. This role will involve gathering and analyzing the operational performance of the A/R team, as well as implementing and maintaining effective workflows to ensure the success of the organization’s A/R operations. As a crucial contributor to the alignment of strategy and execution, you will report to and serve as a key advisor to the Vice President of Revenue Cycle Management, as well as collaborate with various cross-functional leaders.
We are a small, tight-knit, purpose-driven organization with aggressive growth goals in 2025 and beyond. We don’t have all the answers and we don’t expect you to, either. We do expect you to be curious, hardworking, and striving to be your best self.
Role Breakdown
- Accounts Receivable Strategy, Reporting, and Analysis (50%): Develop and analyze reports to monitor all A/R processes and cash posting activities. This includes assessing denial prevention efforts, adherence to timely filing limits, resolution success rates for denials, as well as, transaction rejection and overall balancing for cash postings. By gathering and analyzing data, identify and research recurring root causes of denials, underpayments, and zero payments to formulate corrective action plans aimed at overturning denials. Recognize common trends and facilitate discussions with cross-functional teams to mitigate unnecessary denials or delays in payment.
- People leadership (50%). Manage the performance of the A/R staff and their external agents, focusing on productivity, quality of work, documentation, reporting, and collection activities to achieve optimal team results. Provide guidance, coaching, feedback, and direction to staff on all aspects of A/R collection standards and procedures. Ensure compliance with policies and procedures and oversee all correspondence processes with insurance companies related to claims handling and other payer requests. Develop and implement work groups and plans to ensure that A/R balances, denial rates, days to collect, and payment posting align with the objectives of the Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) team and the organization.
What you’ll do
Make data-driven decisions.
- Demonstrate thoughtful decisiveness in extracting actionable insights from large data sets, driving significant operational outcomes. By meticulously gathering and analyzing the relevant and accurate data essential for managing a successful Accounts Receivable (A/R) team, you effectively align with the organization’s objectives and metrics.
- Empower other teams within Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) by sharing data-driven insights to proactively identify and address denial-causing errors. This includes ensuring the proper clinical documentation is obtained for accurate coding, which in turn leads to cleaner claims and more precise medical records.
- Produce and present reports that track operational and financial metrics within the Revenue Cycle, including staff productivity and quality measures. You focus on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as outstanding insurance A/R, net collections, days sales outstanding, denials as a percentage of revenue, and average collections per payer, as well as detailed analysis of denial types received.
- Prioritize the urgent reporting and resolution of payment and system-related issues, escalating matters as necessary, while also implementing processes to prevent similar issues in the future.
Empower your team.
- You’re passionate about motivating individuals to work collaboratively and empowering them to make decisions that align with organizational objectives.
- Effectively manage staff performance by setting clear expectations concerning metrics—both at the individual and team levels—while providing regular feedback, conducting performance reviews, and holding one-on-one meetings.
- Plan and organize the accounts receivable department’s workflow and staffing based on priority and efficiency to ensure that all goals are met.
- You’ll monitor, respond to, and communicate changes in procedures, billing requirements, regulations, reimbursement rates, and updates regarding provider enrollment with payers to your staff.
What we need from you:
- 10 years of professional revenue cycle experience with a strong understanding of billing/collections and industry best practices
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related degree or ten years of experience leading reimbursement and functions
- Successful past experiences managing complex change or implementation initiatives within reimbursement, pricing, and/or revenue management functions

- Outstanding communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to influence and build consensus
- Thorough knowledge of patient financial services processes and standards related to billing, collections, and cash postings
- Ability to manage and influence direct reports with high motivation for continuous improvement and ability to drive impact
- Adept at leading teams to tackle complex system issues between payer and provider
