Position Summary:

We’re looking for an experience Staff Accountant to add to our Finance team at C5MI! This is an exciting opportunity with a rapidly growing company. In this role, you’ll be responsible for day-to-day accounting tasks, including but not limited to: maintaining financial records, preparing financial reports, reconciling accounts, managing accounts payable and receivable, and assisting with payroll.

  • Assists in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Ensures accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
  • Supports the preparation of financial statements and footnotes, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Records and reconciles financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger entries.
  • Processes vendor invoices and ensures accurate coding and approvals.
  • Leads month-end and year-end closing process, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
  • Maintains accurate financial records and documentation.
  • Collaborates with other departments to streamline financial processes and provide support as needed.
  • Conducts regular audits to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and company policies, and coordinates with auditors when external audits are in process.
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement and assists in implementing changes to increase efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
  • Assists the Executive Director of Enabling Operations in developing and implementing accounting procedures and controls.
  • Utilizes financial software and tools to process transactions and generate reports.
  • Supports the implementation and maintenance of and reporting systems.
  • Troubleshoots system issues and provides user support.

Required/Desired Qualifications:

Education, Training, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or another related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Relevant certifications such as CPA or CFA are a plus.
  • 1-2 years of experience in accounting, including experience with financial software and systems.

Specific skills, knowledge, and abilities:

  • Knowledge of financial analysis techniques, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Familiarity with accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Highly detail oriented, organized, and able to manage time efficiently and prioritize tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
