To help facilitate our expanding business, RMS Energy is currently seeking a Staff Accountant to join our dynamic and fast-growing team. Our Staff Accountant will manage and support accounting functions related to fixed assets, prepaid expenses, asset utilization, third-party commissions, and hotel engine management. The role will also involve supporting outstanding bonds, business insurance management, Dun & Bradstreet account management, and financial audits. This position requires a strong understanding of asset accounting, financial reporting, and compliance with company policies.
Responsibilities:
  • Record, track, and maintain accurate fixed asset records, including trucks, property, and equipment.
  • Ensure proper depreciation schedules and asset retirement processes.
  • Monitor the right use of company assets to optimize performance and lifespan.
  • Accurately record and manage prepaid expenses, ensuring proper amortization schedules.
  • Reconcile prepaid accounts and ensure accurate expense recognition.
  • Calculate and process third-party commissions accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure commissions are aligned with contractual agreements and company policies.
  • Manage and track expenses related to the company’s hotel engine, ensuring accurate reporting.
  • Reconcile hotel engine transactions and ensure compliance with company travel policies.
  • Support the management and reconciliation of business insurance policies, ensuring accurate premium tracking and reporting.
  • Assist in maintaining proper insurance documentation and managing related expenses.
  • Support and manage outstanding bonds, ensuring proper accounting and reporting.
  • Assist in bond compliance, timely payments, and proper documentation.
  • Maintain and manage the company’s Dun & Bradstreet account to ensure accurate credit reporting.
  • Monitor and update key financial information to reflect the company’s financial health.
  • Assist in preparing for and supporting financial audits by providing necessary documentation, reconciliations, and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with audit requirements and provide timely responses to auditor inquiries.
  • Assist in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • Reconcile accounts related to fixed assets, prepaid expenses, hotel engine, and third-party commissions.
  • Support the audit process by providing necessary documentation and reconciliations.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in accounting, with a focus on fixed assets and financial reporting.
  • Experience with Dun & Bradstreet account management, business insurance, and bond management preferred.
  • Familiarity with hotel engine management and third-party commissions processing preferred.
  • Experience supporting financial audits preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and asset accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.

Working Conditions:
The working conditions for this role primarily involve a standard office environment with typical office noise levels. The role requires prolonged periods of sitting, working at a computer, and performing tasks that demand visual acuity for reading and typing. This job may require travel to RMS facilities and other sites.

Physical Requirements:
Physical requirements include the ability to occasionally lift and carry office supplies weighing up to 20 pounds, the capability to move within the office to access files, office machinery, and meeting rooms, and fine motor skills for keyboard use. Proficiency in speaking, hearing, reading, and typing in English is essential for effective communication and documentation.
