The Opportunity
K12 Coalition is seeking a Staff Accountant to join the finance team. This role offers the chance to work in a fast-paced environment with valuable opportunities for learning and growth. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, preparing journal entries, and assisting with the month-end close process. The position plays a key role in ensuring the financial health and decision-making capabilities of the organization. The Staff Accountant will report to the Accounting Supervisor.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare journal entries as part of the month-end close process.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts and general ledger accounts.
- Serve as a backup for Accounts Payable processing in Tipalti.
- Maintain the travel and expense management system, including coding credit card transactions to the ledger and reconciling reimbursement accounts monthly.
- Generate billable travel expense reports and customer invoices.
- Assist with fixed assets and prepaid expense setup and ongoing maintenance.
- Support Sales & Use (S&U) tax filing, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Other Duties: support the team with additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to help meet evolving organizational goals and objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting with 1-3 years of accounting experience, or associate’s degree with 3-5 years of experience
- Proficient knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Experience with Sage Intacct preferred, but not required
- Experience with multi-entity accounting is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accuracy in financial records and timely completion of tasks
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Adaptability and a proactive approach to handling new challenges or changes in the workflow
- Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively

Compensation Range
The compensation range for this position is $60,000-$70,000
As part of our commitment to pay equity, new hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the salary band minimum and the salary band midpoint depending on qualifications, location, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role.
